Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provides assistance and technical support to the community about adolescent chemical dependency prevention and education activities.
2. Conduct educational sessions on substance abuse, alcohol abuse, commercial tobacco and other drug related problems to local schools and community agencies/programs.
3. Support local youth groups in the community and schools through social/prevention activities: e.g. building self-esteem, mutual-help, self-help, group counseling, etc.
4. Facilitate youth talking circles and support groups
5. Promote overall wellness and support wellness activities in the community.
6. Prepare monthly reports of services provided and enter all activities on the required data base system.
7. Develop prevention community resources utilizing media, social media, advising, fact sheets, etc.
8. Adhere to the code of ethics of the “Indian Health Service Code of Ethics”, American Council Association ethics, as well as the Northern Arapaho Policies and procedures and White Buffalo Recovery Center Policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of High School Diploma or Equivalent.
2. Must have a minimum of 200 hours of mentor training
3. Must have two (2) years of continuous recovery of being clean and sober.
4. Must have basic knowledge of substance abuse prevention
5. Must be expected to work closely in a team staff relationship in program development.
6. Must have a verifiable driver’s license.
