Summary: Wind River Family & Community Health Care is seeking applicants for the position of Director of Professional and Career Education. Wind River Family & Community Health Care provides ambulatory health care for the service population of the Wind River Reservation. The Director serves as a member of the Administrative Team, and falls under the direct supervision of the CEO.
The Director of Professional and Career Education will provide leadership by creating a framework of educational services that promote growth and development of the licensed and unlicensed staff of the Wind River Family and Community Health Care system. The educational models employed should reflect the philosophy and standards of the organization. THe Director will provide leadership and strategic initiatives to identify and provide occupational training programs, professional development and career pathways that enables an available and qualified Tribal workforce for WRFCHCS.
Responsibilities and Objectives:
Coordinates all educational programs for licensed and unlicensed staff.
Strives to meet the educational needs of staff by providing an annual calendar of educational activities for staff including educational needs identified by department heads, clinical officers and administration.
Identifies essential competencies for licensed and non licensed staff and assures appropriate educational opportunities exist to promote growth and development of staff.
Identifies, plans, delivers and evaluates educational programs for licensed and non licensed staff.

Identifies, obtains and coordinates Certification programs for staff development and for purposes of Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services requirements. Solicits involvement of appropriate staff as preceptors, mentors and supervisors.
Maintains certificates, licenses and attendance records in accordance with regulatory requirements and as part of staff professional development file.
Provides tuition assistance and tuition remission information, scholarship and workforce grants application assistance. Facilitates with academic institutions and certification agencies, acting as the liaison between the schools and WRFCHC. Coordinates monthly orientation programs and cultural specialist trainings.
Assists in developing, implementing and conducting relevant in-service training programs as requested by clinical operations officers or administration. Assist in identifying areas in which training is necessary.
Assist in developing and offering calendared in-services related to safety issues, i.e. prevention of back injuries, infection control policies and procedures, blood and bodily fluid exposure prevention, etc.
Explore workforce development grant opportunities with grants management and the CEO, and apply is deemed appropriate.
Will foster an environment which facilitates professional collaboration among colleague.
Interacts with, and establishes effective working relations with Tribal and state workforce development agencies in order to identify and develop workplace learning opportunities.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Required:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, with a minimum of 2 years experience in curriculum development, adult education, personnel development or workforce development.
Knowledge of the Cultural and Traditional Ways of the Northern Arapaho Tribe, and must be comfortable in working with and acceptable to many facets of the Traditional and Ceremonial population of the Northern Arapaho Tribe.
The ability and skill to compile and write reports from various documents maintained within WRFCHC.
Supervisory controls:
The Educational Specialist is under the direct supervision of the CEO, but will also work closely with the various supervisors within all departments of the WRFCHC system. The Educational Specialist must maintain strict confidentiality of all patient/client information, including all requirements of the Patient Protection and accountability act, and Health Information Patient Protection Act, and established policies.

The incumbent must maintain strict confidentiality and high ethical standards in performing the position. The incumbent needs to be respectful, possess cultural awareness and sensitivity, be flexible, and demonstrate sound work ethics. Native preference applies.
