Summary: Wind River Family & Community Health Care is seeking applicants for the position of Pharmacy Technician. Wind River Family & Community Health Care provides ambulatory health care for the service population of the Wind River Reservation. The Pharmacy Technician serves as a member of the Pharmacy team in the pharmacy at the Wind River Family & Community Health Care Center, located in Arapahoe, Wyoming, and is under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Director.

The Pharmacy Technician reviews, prepares, conducts document checking, labeling, dispensing and quality assurance of medications provided by pharmacy. Pharmacy services are provided to ambulatory patients and dialysis patients, among others.

The Pharmacy Technician relies on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. They will work under immediate supervision of the Pharmacists and/or more senior techs, and rely on appropriate experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals and a variety of complicated tasks. The successful applicant will routinely inspect assigned drug storage areas to ensure proper storage, security and prepare proper documentation. Receives and fills orders with appropriate final check by the Pharmacist. Fills outpatient prescriptions, interacts with patients and provides exemplary customer service. Collects insurance information and monitors point of sale billing to correct rejects and discrepancies. Coordinates efforts with nurses and other health professionals to ensure adequate medication supply levels are always available. Participates in scheduled and organized continuing education programs. Must demonstrate leadership in the work environment; promote harmony and excellent customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.
Demonstrates effective, communication methods and skills, following appropriate lines of authority (chain of command). Communicates with patients, families and team members to ensure the occurrence of effective therapeutic interventions, and to ensure safe patient care.

Knowledge Required:
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Must be able to demonstrate skills in the practical application of electronic systems and database management software, and satisfactory sterile technique. It would be advantageous to have experience in a healthcare or pharmaceutical setting, and to be a Certified Pharmacy Technician. If an applicant is without the certification, and meets other personal criteria, they will still be eligible for this position as a Technician-in-training as long as they can become certified within two years in the state of Wyoming.

Knowledge of communication techniques and ability to teach and instruct patients, family, and/ or significant others in proper health care of patients.
