Summary: Wind River Family & Community Health Care is seeking applicants for the position of Patient Transport Driver. Wind River Family & Community Health Cares provides ambulatory health care for the service population of the Wind River Reservation. The Patient Transport Driver serves as a member of the transportation team in the entire Wind River Reservation area, based at the Wind River Family and Community Health Care Center, located in Arapahoe Wyoming.
The candidates’ primary responsibility is to transport patients to and from the WRFCHC Clinic, diabetes centers, dialysis centers, White Buffalo Recovery Center, private homes and any other necessary locations directly related to health care in a safe and professional manner. The driver will be responsible for keeping the vehicles and equipment clean and well maintained, ensuring the vehicle has all the necessary supplies, completion of daily shift forms, communication with dispatcher/scheduler for changes in daily schedule, patient care concerns, and must maintain an acceptable code of ethics at all times.
Knowledge Required: Must be knowledgeable about State and Federal driving laws, age appropriate car seat safety, proper car seat installation, and when to report needed vehicle maintenance.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Transporting patients in a safe and professional manner following State and Federal rules/regulations. Communication with dispatcher, scheduler, other drivers, for changes in schedule, and to receive relevant data and instruction for transport locations. Maintains professional behavior and attitude in regards to patients, visitors, co-workers and outside entity personnel. Must complete daily vehicle maintenance inspection prior to usage to ensure safe, comfortable patient transport. Assisting patients with transferring from the vehicle to assistive devices for safety. Must be able to understand and follow directions, read and use maps (paper/electronic), and be able to communicate with dispatcher/supervisor for assistance with directions. Must complete daily patient transportation referral sheets and turn them in by the end of the business day.
Requirements: Current CPR and First Aid Certification. Current and valid State of Wyoming driver’s license. Must pass mandatory drug and alcohol screening. Must be insurable- no DWUI convictions within the last 5 years. Provide a current 10 year DMV record printout.
The incumbent must maintain strict confidentiality and high ethical standards in performing the position. The incumbent needs to be respectful, possess cultural awareness and sensitivity, be flexible, and demonstrate sound work ethics.
