NA Vocational Rehabilitation Project

NAVR’s Purpose: Northern Arapaho Vocational Rehabilitation’s objective is to assist Native Americans with disabilities find and/or maintain gainful employment, learn skills necessary to live more independently, and give on-going support to those with an impairment in maintaining/obtaining employment. The expected outcomes of this initiative include and increase in appropriate employment placements for Native Americans with disabilities and improved service delivery. Which increases the applicants’ confidence in service providers, boosting self-confidence and self-esteem. Please note that TVR receives funding to provide services exclusively to Native Americans residing within the service area. Funding: Funded by the US Department of Education Rehabilitation Services Administration and the Northern Arapaho Tribe. Eligibility Requirements and Services:

• Provide 2 valid forms of ID (Social Security Card, Birth Certificate, Tribal ID, C.D.I.B)
• Must be an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe. (Provide C.D.I.B or Tribal ID)
• Must have documented physical, cognitive, mental disability diagnosis that creates a barrier(s) to employment.
• The Primary disability has to have some effect on applicants’ ability to work.
• Applicant MUST want to work. (NAVR is employment based)
• Applicant must be released by medical provider to work.
• Must live within the service area.
• Must be able to benefit from NAVR services in terms of employment outcomes and must require VR services to prepare for, enter, and retain sustainable employment.

Services:

• Vocational Counseling and Guidance
• Vocational Evaluations
• Assistance with training
• Job development services / worksite modification services
• Resume building, and skills assessment.
• Services are NOT all the same, it is a case-by-case basis.

NAVR Process:

• Referral: Can be a self-referral or a referral from an outside agency.
• Orientation: Watch PowerPoint presentation and learn how applicants enter the VR system.
• Case Review: TVR Counselor meets with applicant and discusses eligibility requirements.
• Application: Process of gathering information, 60-day timeline for determining eligibility begins.
• Intake: Consult with VR Counselor about support/employment options.
• Eligibility: VR Counselor determines applicant as eligible/ineligible based on disability and successful employment options.
• Individualized Plan for Employment (I.P.E): Create plan with VR Counselor about goals, expectations, services provided, and employment.
• Employment: Reaching I.P.E. employment goal of 90 days.
• Successful Case Closure: Maintain employment of 90 days, case will be closed successfully.
